What Is a Retainer?

A retainer is a custom fit appliance designed to keep your teeth in their new positions after orthodontic treatment. At North Calgary Orthodontics, we will create retainers by taking an impression or digital scan of your teeth after your braces or Invisalign® treatment is completed. These retainers are designed to fit the exact alignment and shape of your mouth, creating a snug fit which holds the teeth in place

How Long Should You Wear Your Retainer?
